vs 14 A man’s spirit will endure sickness, but a crushed spirit who can bear?

vs 16 A man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before the great.

vs 17 The one who states his case first seems right, until the other comes and examines him.

vs 4 Wealth brings many new friends, but a poor man is deserted by his friend.

vs 6 Many seek the favor of a generous man,vand everyone is a friend to a man who gives gifts.

Application

Proverbs 17-19 continues with wisdom sayings. These chapters don’t technically have a theme except for the overarching theme of shaping a wise person. Instead of asking what the application of each chapter is, ask, “What kind of person is Chapter X training me to become?”
