Questions
Why are some women named and some are not?
Why are two sons both named Elishama and two named Eliphelet among David’s Jerusalem children?
Why was this included in vs 10 of Chapter 4: Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from harm so that it might not bring me pain!
Applicaiton
Another fun round of genealogies! In Chapter 3 we see how royal line of David is traced. From Solomon all the way through the kings of Judah, down to Jeconiah (in exile), and then on to Zerubbabel and his descendants. We see that this genealogy doesn’t stop when Judah falls into exile. Even though the land was lost, God kept the family line alive. God is still faithful even when His people are not.
